About the Show
On October 9, 2010, the CPC is throwing the doors open to reveal the way printmakers go at their plates and stones and screens and woodblocks to produce the fine images that make this medium so intriguing. Demonstrations on the presses will abound, and visitors will be invited to participate in the experience of what itºs like to be immersed in a real, working printmaking workshop. The accompanying exhibition will feature a collaboration and exchange between Chicago and Parisian artists, rendering alive the grit and song of these two cities in stark black and white printed images. Come on by and see why this vibrant workshop has been thriving and inkin' for over 2 decades.

20th Anniversary Summer Show
June 26 - August 28, 2010
Featuring Gallery Artists and participants in the Chicago debut of the Dream Threads Project!!
About the Dream Thread Project: People all over the world contributed their dreams, inspirations, and stories to the Dream Threads Project via postcards that were sent to the CPC. The postcard template (see above) was distributed worldwide via email, web and social media. Anyone could print them out, add their own ideas, and mail them back to us. The variety of finished cards was astounding. The age of those sending cards ranged from 3 to 80. Students sent cards along with their teachers. Professional artists sent gorgeous images that sit alongside the work of musicians and poets. Grandmothers and dancers and actors and friends all sent in wonderful pieces. Ten-year-old Dora Oanic, from Zagreb, Croatia, wrote on her Dream Thread: "I like cats, dance, shiny things and school. My favorite subject is art. I don't like Beans". The CPC is so excited to share these creations in both the gallery and the storefront windows this summer. And the best part is that ANYONE who stops in during the show can create their OWN Dream Thread and we'll hang it, thus continuing the creative "thread"...
About the Show
This project was a collaborative effort created by artist Deborah Maris Lader of the CPC and choreographer Gina Patterson of VOICE Dance Company (Austin, TX). Dream Threads was conceived to connect people - to empower everyone to use their own creative voice. We hope that it will be a catalyst to stimulate conversation about the threads that connect us all, sharing and supporting one anotherÇs dreams, and about keeping art alive.
