October 6, 2012
In a nod to the earliest depiction of a print shop appearing in a printed image, The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative show, Danse Macabre: Death and the Printer, is showcasing work by Chicago-area artists dealing with the universality of death and how they perceive it. No matter what one's station in life, the Danse Macabre unites all. Come celebrate life, death and the printmaker'shistorically-inspired, yet contemporary expression of printed matter within this artistic genre.
CPC will be hosting an Open house/Demo on the day of the Opening reception called Woodblock X Woodblock inviting neighbors, friends and the community to come see resident artists talk about the role of woodcuts/reliefs in depicting imagery related to the Danse Macabre and Day of the Dead. Demonstrations and hands on relief printing to occur concurrently. Death...what a relief!
