September 23 - November 4, 2017

Featuring artists from the Chiangmai Art On Paper Studio, Chiang Mai, Thailand:
Nit Chaingeawkham, Trevor Foster, Michael Kempson, Ammarin Kuntawong, Amornthep Mahamaet, Jerawit Surtsit, Kitikong Tilokwattanotai, , Sudtipong Vongsorn, Yuttana SittikatCurated by CPC Director Deborah Maris Lader:
When I stumbled upon this little gem of a printshop while traveling in Thailand, I was astounded by the quality, beauty, variety, and technical precision of the prints being made by the young cohort of artists working there under the exuberant leadership of C.A.P Director Kitikong Tilokwattanotai. The etchings made in the workshop had a distinctly "Thai" sensibility but with a very contemporary twist in the hands of these wonderful artists. My brief "appointment" stretched on throughout an entire afternoon and into the evening and culminated into this exhibition. I simply just had to share this exquisite work.Art has no barriers or borders and broadens our idea of what is possible. The great printmakers of the past 300 years easily outlive and transcend whoever happens to be king, dictator, or president. In light of recent political events in the U.S., the CPC renews its 2017 commitment to showcasing the best of International artists. Last April, 71 prints from Iran graced our walls. This summer, CPC hosted the winners of the International On Paper prize and showcased some of the finest prints from 28 different countries. And so now we visit Thailand. In December we'll wrap it all up like a present with the 28th Annual International Small Print Exhibition.
We just don't believe in walls.About the Show

Chicago Printmakers CollaborativeArt has no barriers or borders and broadens our idea of what is possible. Durer... Rembrandt... Blake... Goya... Kollwitz... Posada... Cassatt... Hokusai; the great printmakers of the past 300 years easily outlive and transcend whoever happens to be king, dictator, or president. In light of recent political events in the U.S., the CPC renews its commitment to showcasing the best of International artists. Last month, 71 prints from Iran graced our walls, and in the fall the gallery looks forward to featuring the work of 12 printmakers from Thailand. For now, we highlight some of the finest prints in the galaxy.
